WHICH PEEL TREATMENT IS MOST SUITED TO MY SKIN?
When deciding to have a Fruit Acid Peel, it is advisable to always begin with the mildest treatment so that your skin can adapt to the new treatment. It is even more advantageous to be using a home care product containing AHA before having a salon peel treatment. However, it is absolutely essential to be using Vitaderm’s general home care products before having an AHA (Fruit Acid) Peel.
Vitaderm suggests that the first treatment should be the Fruit Acid 20% Peel – either as a stand-alone mini treatment, or before your usual skin care treatment. Once the skin has adapted to the Fruit Acid Peel 20%, more intensive Peel treatments may be done. e.g. Fruit Acid Peel 70% and Lactic Acid Peel 50%.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN HAVING A PEEL TREATMENT?
Initially there might be a feeling of slight sensitivity, similar to mild sunburn. Later during the day, the skin might feel taut. Vitaderm’s Conditioning Trio Pack contains trial sized products that are perfect for use along with the usual Vitaderm products, to support peel treatments. Flaking may occur 2-5 days following a peel.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO HAVE AN AHA PEEL TREATMENT
The best time of the year to have an AHA Peel Treatment is during Autumn and Winter, since fruit acid treatments and home care products can cause photo-sensitivity.
HOW DO I INCORPORATE AHA’S AND AHA SALON TREATMENTS INTO MY SKIN CARE ROUTINE?
Vitaderm suggests the inclusion of the AHA Active Gel into the evening home care routine for approximately one week before a peel treatment is undertaken. This will kick-start the exfoliation process, and prepare the skin for the peel treatment. For best results, at least 3 peel treatments (1-2 weeks apart) are recommended, with the AHA Active Gel being used throughout for a minimum of 21 days.
The overall effect that can be expected from an alpha hydroxy acid peel, is a more luminous complexion with a reduction in uneven skin tone and fine lines.
